About the Team

You will be part of the Pottery Barn Furniture and Lighting team. Responsible for driving the Bathroom hardlines category business as well as supporting the larger team. This is a supportive team that encourages growth and shares best working practices.

About the Role

As a Design Assistant, you will support the product development process for sampling new designs each season. Work closely with Senior Designer and Director of Design to ensure new developments are communicated to vendors overseas.

Support senior design team with day-to-day tasks in design and development process.

Responsibilities

  • Areas of focus: Bathroom furniture, faucets, cabinet hardware, bath wall fixtures, mirrors, and wall mounted cabinets. Also support main PB furniture team as needed.
  • Assist Designers to get information and specs released to all PD divisions and agents.
  • Communicate with multiple overseas vendors daily.
  • Organize and manage tracking, shipments, developments, finish standards, and reporting.
  • Revises samples and sends clear communication to vendors.
  • Develop technical specs (CAD) to send out to vendors.
  • Prepare design team for cross-functional team meetings.
  • Tracks department samples and ensures all samples are approved in a timely manner.
  • Must be a good communicator. Able to work with in a fast-paced cross functional team.
  • Follow interior design trends including material and finish trends
  • Sustainable Design - interested and knowledgeable about current best practices to reduce our impact in production.

Design Skills:

  • Hand Sketching skills required.
  • Ability to render and use Photoshop to mockup new design concepts required.
  • 3D modeling skills needed.
  • 2D CAD design skills for creating specifications needed.
  • Ability to put together design mood boards

Criteria

  • Minimum 1 to 3 years product design experience.
  • Degree in Design or equivalent experience.
  • Deadline driven, organized and good at managing cross-functional and vendor relationships.
  • Ability to use a computer for extended period of time.
  • Passion and interest in furniture and product development with a willingness to learn.

Software Required:

  • Rhino - 3D modeling
  • AutoCAD - creating product specifications.
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe InDesign
  • PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft Word

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and operate a PC
  • Ability to converse over a telephone
  • Ability to transport materials or equipment or lifting, moving, carrying objects up to 50 pounds on a limited basis
  • Ability to work in office and perform in corporate environment

The expected starting pay range for this position is $25 - $31/hour. Applicable pay ranges may differ across markets.
