Job Description
Our client, the world's leading search engine and technology company, is seeking a Technical Program Manager. This is a 6 month + contract and hybrid remote position located in Mountain View, CA.

Summary:
  • Execute compute and storage operational support for client Research users.

Responsibilities:
  • Technical/Program Management Operational support for basic compute and storage allocation and automation during the transition of new responsibilities to Research PARM in H2-24.
  • This temp role will be to stabilize this transition and help streamline the operational support process such that existing HC/support rotation can take ownership after the contract.
  • We are seeking a strong candidate who can help our team implement resource fulfillment, track progress, and facilitate the delivery process to end services.
  • Ensure Research Teams have the compute resources they need.
  • Own day to day provisioning actions for compute and storage service resource types for all of Research including organic and launch (inorganic) growth needs.
  • Analyze requests submitted by Research Teams for available capacity and determine if the orders can be provisioned, ensuring prompt resolution of requests and investigation of questions raised regarding compute resources.
  • Allocate the quota via CLI or web based tools, update budgets as required and communicate provisioning decisions to customers.
  • Work with customers on developing short and mid-term provisioning plans for resource requests.
  • Provide standard or custom reports on capacity utilization and/or shortfalls to Research PARM/VPSO team members.
  • Monitor and respond to compute capacity related alerts.
  • Maintain and improve compute capacity automation systems.
  • Partner with Research PARM & Vertical Planning Team (VPSO) in management of capacity related production issues. Ensure issues are escalated correctly with respect to severity and priority.
  • Assist Research PARM with ensuring compute and storage orders are placed with appropriate schedule and budget. Track of machine orders and provide reporting via standard tools such as Sheets, Docs, web based tools, etc.
  • Partner with VPSO to staff and schedule Research Compute Resources Office hours as a forum for Engineering teams to have ad hoc questions on resource management answered.
  • Allocate machine resources to fund launches and reclaim unused machine resources using command line, web based tools, or automated provisioning tools.
  • Provide individualized support to teams as they determine how to request machine resources for new launches, coordinating effectively with Engineers, Program Managers, and other Resource Planners.
  • Reporting status, health and progress towards key metrics and goals.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years equivalent work experience; candidates with Program/Project Coordinating, Accounting, and/or Data experience are encouraged to apply Program Coordination skills are needed to prioritize requests and work with teams to identify alternatives when requests cannot be fulfilled.
  • Detail oriented; there are many things to keep track of in this space and the job requires excellent organizational skills.
  • A strong focus on user satisfaction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using basic command-line executables (unix kernel).
  • Experience with Google Suite, especially Sheets, to analyze data.

Desired:
  • Experience planning compute machine capacity for teams.
  • Experience with cloud computing technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and experience creating dashboards, scripting, or coding to automate tasks.
  • Financial/Accounting Analysis - Ability to find trends, maintain budgets, and plan capacity for numerous teams.

Pay rate range: $83.78 - $95.97 hourly
