DESCRIPTION

As an Access Nurse specializing in Gastroenterology, you will play a crucial role in remote patient care, ensuring high standards of healthcare delivery. Your responsibilities will revolve around conducting comprehensive telephonic symptom triage for GI patients and managing referrals, with a particular emphasis on GI experience, telephonic nursing, hepatology, motility/esophageal disorders, specialty ambulatory care, and GI/hepatology procedural experience. Your primary duty involves conducting thorough symptom triage for GI patients, assessing their needs, and determining appropriate referrals for further evaluation or treatment. Additionally, you will triage procedure referrals, ensuring prompt and accurate handling to facilitate efficient scheduling and follow-up.

In your capacity, you'll be accountable for triaging symptom calls, addressing concerns, and complications to ensure continuity of care and enhance patient outcomes. Collaborating closely with healthcare providers, patients, and team members is integral to fostering effective communication and care coordination in a virtual setting.

Providing exceptional telephonic care to GI patients is fundamental. You'll be expected to demonstrate empathy, professionalism, and clinical expertise in all interactions, prioritizing patient safety and satisfaction.

Aligned with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance, you'll exercise autonomous nursing care, making independent judgments within interdisciplinary approaches to patient care. Thorough documentation of patient interactions, referrals, and care coordination activities is essential to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.Provide RN support to Expedited Consult Clinic providers as required, facilitating the efficient management of patient consultations and referrals. Your contributions in this aspect will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of patient care services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.

  • RN License issued by the State of California.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year active nursing experience.

  • Must have recent GI/Hepatology experience.

  • Must have recent clinical coordinator experience.

  • Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency and speed, accuracy and tact.

  • Proficiency with Windows-based software including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.

  • Solid interpersonal and customer service skills. Strong ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Ability to be diplomatic and highly organized. Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment.

  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple tasks simultaneously.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN.
  • GI Experience.
  • Telephonic Nursing Experience.
  • Hepatology experience.
  • Motility and/or Esophageal experience.
  • Specialty Ambulatory Care experience.
  • GI/Hep Procedural experience.
  • Epic Experience.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and various locations based on the Medical Center's business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
  • The position is a remote position that requires a stable and strong internet connection.
  • Hours are M-F 0800-1730

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
