Job Summary
The Physician Assistant will be expected to demonstrate clinical competence to care for the otolaryngology patient population and work independently under the APP scope of practice. The PA has the primary responsibility for the diagnosis and management of chronic and acute otolaryngology conditions for adult patients with complex medical and surgical needs in the outpatient ambulatory clinical setting as well in the hospital setting. The PA will be responsible for carrying out independent assessment and diagnosis, following established protocols, performing otolaryngology related procedures under the standardized procedure protocols, conducting patient education, assisting in the operating room, performing pre and post-op care and all related duties as required for inpatient care such as rounding, orders and discharges. The PA is recognized as a leader and clinical resource, will demonstrate investment in the overall forward movement of the practice and the organization. The PA must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff, patients, patient families, and other providers. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in dealing with faculty, staff, and patients in a complex environment. This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at varied UCSF.

Secondary sites for orientation and emergency clinical coverage: Faculty Practice Otolaryngology Clinic - 2380 Sutter Street - San Francisco CA
Practice locations may include: Oakland, Berkeley, Redwood, City, Mission Bay, additional sites in San Francisco, or other expansion clinical sites.

The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of grant and philanthropic funding sources.
