Job Description
Eastern Research Group is searching for highly motivated technician to support our ongoing enforcement work. Our enforcement group includes a wide range of services to state and federal agency clients including field inspections with sampling, evidence analysis and handling, and other law enforcement investigation activities. As a part of our team, this position will support ERG's technical staff by preparing and shipping field equipment, maintaining and tracking government property, maintaining and tracking law enforcement evidence, conducting research, and other activities to support EPA. This position requires the candidate to be local to ERG's Chantilly, Virgina office. Candidates must be willing and able to be at the Chantilly, VA office on short notice, though telework work may be considered for some duties covered by this position.
Job Description:
  • Support equipment purchasing, tracking, repair, calibration, and maintenance
  • Prepare and transport field equipment to ERG technical staff field sites
  • Conduct research to support investigation activities
  • Track law enforcement evidence
  • Track and maintain government property.
  • Successfully complete all required annual safety training
  • Maintain valid DOT driver status to facilitate mobilization of equipment and evidence
  • Work under the supervision of Project Managers and ERG technical staff
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Must be located in the northern Virginia area and able to commute to ERG's Chantilly, VA office
  • Automotive background or mechanical skills
  • Fuels for internal combustion engines and/or Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs)
  • Willing and able to travel nationally for projects that require it
  • Aptitude and interest in science, technical work, mechanical equipment, and air quality
  • Experience in mechanical, laboratory, eld science, etc. preferred
  • High School Diploma with four years of professional experience, Associate Degree/Certificate with two years of professional experience, or Bachelor's degree
  • The ability to pass a pulmonary function or spirometry breathing test and a fit test to wear an air purifying respirator (APR)
  • Be able to carry 25 pounds, climb ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Proficient in instrumentation installation, calibration, testing, and operation
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical certification
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
