Job Description
The Finance and Administrative Officer (FAO) for the department of Research reports to the School of Medicine's Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO), Associate Dean, Division of Biomedical Sciences, and Associate Dean, Clinical Research. The Finance and Administrative Officer is responsible for the financial, administrative, operational, managerial, human resources, academic affairs and short and long range planning. The FAO is responsible for developing short and long-range planning of administrative and financial goals and objectives; coordinates and carries out strategic support initiatives; serves in an advisory capacity to the department leadership on all matters related to the department's operations, taking initiative to develop administrative policy as required; serves as the main point of contact with the departments for non-medical issues and serves as a liaison with other departments as well as other campus offices and organizations; ensures that all University policies and procedures are strictly followed and enforced for all sources of revenue to the departments, and maintains accurate and comprehensive records related to all accounting and financial transactions performed by the department. Serves as the financial advisor to the leadership, responsible for managing the unit's operating budget, monitoring and/or participating in the development and implementation of Agreements and Provider-specific Profit and Loss (P&L) Statements; helps initiate the contracting process in partnership with the SOM Central Contracts unit, and manages the annual Faculty Appointments Renewal process. This position has significant responsibility in organizing work to achieve broadly stated goals for the department, programs, and lines of business. The FAO identifies objectives, provides leadership, develops strategies and policies, and functions with a high degree of autonomy.

The full salary range for this position is $96,700 - $184,100 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $150,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
