Job Summary

The Office of Clinical Trial Activation (OCTA) provides support to investigators and study teams initiating and conducting clinical trials. To assist in this mission, UCSF has deployed the OnCore Enterprise Research System to manage clinical research operations. OnCore is a comprehensive enterprise clinical trials management system designed to support research standards for efficiency, safety, quality, and compliance. The Clinical Research Management Analyst will be primarily responsible for analyzing clinical research protocols documents and creating the billing grid in OnCore. Once created, this schedule or calendar is used to manage a variety of research activities including billing compliance, budgeting, subject tracking, data collection, and sponsor invoicing. The individual will manage incoming requests for new protocols and amendments, and ensure the end-user requests are handled in a timely and professional fashion as directed. This may require meeting with UCSF faculty and staff to ensure their research project is reflected accurately in the system and explain any system settings that may impact the system configuration.

Department Description

The Office of Clinical Trial Activation provides support to investigators and study teams initiating and conducting clinical trials. This includes maintaining a clinical trial management system (CTMS), conducting Medicare coverage analysis, developing budgets for clinical research studies, negotiating payment terms with industry and nonprofit sponsors, and providing clinical research infrastructure/services.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, research administration, or related area, and/ or equivalent combination of experience/ training
  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience (i.e. experience within clinical, research, and/or academic healthcare setting or related
  • Broad and/ or in-depth knowledge of clinical and/or research administration systems
  • Strong problem-resolution skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose problems, and develop, test, and implement appropriate and effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively, train, support, and work collaboratively with users of clinical information systems at all professional and technical levels
  • Detail oriented, with proven organizational skills and the ability ta effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and see projects through to completion on deadline
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to convey technical information and instructions to all levels of clinical applications users in a specific, clear, and concise manner
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in documentation and reporting, with the ability to design and execute tests, analyze system performance data, and produce substantive reports and analyses
  • Ability to work with senior staff and managers, serving as a technical resource and providing advice and counsel on issues of functionality, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, policy, and performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a clinical research coordinator or associate
  • Extensive knowledge of study design criteria and data collection strategies
  • Knowledge of coverage analysis, medical billing terms and research billing operations for industry-sponsored studies
