Job Summary

The BTRC Tissue Bank has been existence for almost 50 years and is a repository for both clinical and research with over 50,000 bio-specimens. We assist with cutting edge research and assist with many clinical trial collections for many Neurosurgery adult and pediatric patients.

Job Duties:

  • Route emails and phone calls related to clinical and research requests to designated core staff.
  • Perform data entry tasks into the Tissue Bank database.
  • File clinical blocks and slides systematically.
  • Handle shipping and receiving of specimens.
  • Possible involvement in histological assays and blood processing.

The hourly compensation range for this role is $24.77 - $29.49. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate, position requirements, AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description

UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.

Required Qualifications

  • BA required, preferably in Biology or a related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly in Excel and Word.
  • Strong attention to detail, capable of following directions and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Ability to manage substantial volumes of data effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Access Software.
  • Knowledge of APEX and CoPath systems.
  • Experience working in a clinical or academic research setting.
  • Prior experience handling sensitive information.
  • Experience in reading pathology reports.
