Job Summary

The Clinical Practice Group (CPG) Business Services provides the University with an internal and centralized physicians' professional fee billing operation at San Francisco General Hospital. The Cash Management Unit is primarily responsible for the maintenance, control, payment posting, refunds, and/or final disposition of incoming payments. The unit is responsible for analyzing and resolving credit balances. The unit also assists in tracing payments, tracking and reconciling deposits. It is the unit's responsibility to communicate with the CPG staff and various SFGH departments to resolve issues involving the account receivable of the professional fee services.

Within the Cash Management Unit, the Cash Payment Poster is primarily responsible for the maintenance, control, payment posting and/or final disposition of incoming payments. The incumbent is also responsible for analyzing explanation of benefits to ensure accurate posting of payments, rejection codes, adjustments and any other posting requirement needed in Epic. The Cash Payment Poster is also responsible in coordinating the workflow with the Credit Analyst at month-end to accomplish the unit's goals and meet its deadline for closing. The position also supports the Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) processes for UCSF and CPG. The incumbent will also conform to all UCSF, CPG, government and HIPAA policies and procedures.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Graduation and four years of related administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in Epic medical payment posting system
  • General knowledge of accounting controls and standard cashier policies
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience with interpreting Insurance / Medi-cal Explanation of Benefits

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and four years of related administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
