The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) is looking to add a communications intern to it Communications and Marketing Department in 2023. Candidates in communications or public relations with and interest in trade associations and government affairs are encouraged to apply.

ACEC is the national trade association representing the business voice of the engineering and design services industry. In this role, the Council serves as the official advocacy organization for more than 5,500 engineering and design services firms and their employees. The Council is engaged in a robust external and member communications program to raise awareness of the essential value engineers play in society and to bolster its advocacy before Congress, the Biden Administration and regulatory agencies that oversee America's engineers.

Responsibilities for the role:

  • Assist our Director of Media Relations with managing media lists and assisting in pitching media outlets
  • Managing the tracking of in-bound and out-bound media inquiries as well as departmental activities
  • Assisting in the development, drafting, and scheduling of social media messages
  • Supporting communications writing staff with research, data gathering and other needs

Qualifications for the role:

  • Ability to work a period of 3-6 months.
  • This position pays $20 per hour. This is a temporary position
  • Candidates with coursework or experience in a related field such as marketing, communications, or journalism
  • Active interest in strategic communications with an interest to take on gradually increasing levels of responsibility
  • Ability to act quickly, confidently, and competently to complete assigned tasks
  • Self-starter who instinctively and consistently creates personal and professional stretch goals and meets them
  • Ability to think and act creatively to solve problems and adapt to changing needs of the department
